Coaching based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

There’s no doubt that the world today is a stressful place. Everything is moving and developing at a rapid pace, and the sentiment that has followed is higher expectations for everyone to be and do better in both their professional and personal lives.

You may find that you are doubting yourself or experiencing a general lack of direction. These feelings could even be accompanied by a whole lot of unnecessary stress and anxiety. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT can help ease the stressors and retrain how you see your reality.

Yes, if you have heard of this treatment before, you may be thinking we are insinuating you need a psychologist, but that’s not necessarily true. CBT is excellent for anyone who experiences consistent negative thoughts and feelings and can help get you back on track in both your personal and professional life.

What is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a psychological treatment that is commonly used to treat many psychological concerns including depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, drug and alcohol addiction, marital issues, eating disorders, severe mental illness, and an array of anxiety disorders. The treatment itself is highly collaborative between the psychologist and patient and is commonly used as an alternative to medication therapy or used in combination. The principles and techniques of CBT are highly researched, both academically and in clinical practice, making it a scientifically proven method to help people overcome obstacles and move forward in their lives.

How can CBT help?

The strategies used in CBT are designed to target unhelpful thinking patterns and aim to change them. Generally, this is done in stages over a course of a CBT treatment and will involve helping someone identify these unhelpful thought patterns, understand what the triggers are, and help them re-evaluate these thoughts to better represent how they fit.  This can either help eliminate the thoughts completely or help someone better cope with them when they come up. It also can help change unhelpful or unproductive behavioral patterns.
